My Dad knew me in small ways

Like how I loved to fish

He knew the large things just as well

He knew my deepest wish

And Dad knew working with my hands

Would always keep me straight

He taught me staying busy would keep trouble far at bay

In keeping to myself, I find I like a simpler way

A beer, my dog, a belly laugh, will use my time just right

Like my dad, my needs are few, this way, we're not uptight

When we needed these fulfilled, we'd rattle down to Chuck's

And gather all the fun we could, and load it on our trucks

We'd take it home to use all week

Until we'd meet again,

To dump our news, refill our brews

And recharge these men!
