How to use Internet Explorer (or Windows Explorer) to copy your web pages to the Student webserver

When you use this method, the manipulation of files (such as copying, deleting, and moving) and folders (such as creating and deleting) can be done in the same way you do in "My Documents" (or Windows Explorer).

1. Open the Internet Explore (or Windows Explorer).

2. Type ftp://student.fgcu.edu in the Address box and press the Enter key.

3. In the dialog box shown below,  you need to enter information in:

User Name: fgcu-student/YourAccountName (For example, fgcu-student\jdoe).

The user name MUST begin with "FGCU-student\" as in the example below.  Do not forget the backslash, or the hyphen between "FGCU" and "student."

Password: Your FGCU Account Password.

4. Click on the Login button, and a window will open placing you in the folder created for your website.  You may place your website content here, or in subfolders.

5. Open the Windows Explorer and locate files you want to upload to the Student webserver.  Copy the files.

6. Switch back to the Internet Explorer and paste the files.

7. Now you should see your files in the Student webserver.

8. In the Address box, type http://student.fgcu.edu/YourAccountName/FileName.Extension (For exmaple, http://student.fgcu.edu/jdoe/jdoe.htm).
