Computing is a part of everything we do. There are three main categories in the computing world: computer science, software engineering, and information technology. Computer science consists of designing and building software. It has a lot to do with developing new ways to solve computer problems such as storing information in databases, or sending data over networks, and formulating better ways of using computers and the challenges that come with it. In software engineering you are the one developing reliable software systems, which are maintainable under a reasonable price and satisfy the requirements brought up by the customers. Information technology holds the job of high knowledge and hands-on experience to take care of an organizations information technology structure and those who use it. Where ever you travel, you will always be able to find a computing job. One common job is computer programing. Programmers write and test code that allow software to function properly. They take the ideas of software developers and turn it into code for computers to follow. Computer science is applied in this job because it is like designing and building software for computers. Another possible job in the computing field is an information security analyst. Their job is to protect an organization against cyber-attacks through plans of protections to the organizations computer networks and systems. This job relates to computer science because people are constantly trying to come up with new approaches for security problems and attacks, which is a branch in computer science. Web developers are also in the field of computer science. Developers create website and design the whole look for it. They are responsible for creating content for the site, as well as the technical aspects. The job of interest I have is actuarial science. Actuaries need good programming skills and computer science would help build up on my programming skills. Although I could pursue a job in the actuarial science field without computer science, having the background would make me look like a better candidate for the job.
