Computer science is a study of what a computer is capable of, and the several uses for a computer. This includes numerous things such as: computer engineering, software engineering, and computer information systems. The first field being computer engineering is described by Computer Science Online is, “A driving force behind innovation and technologies that are changing the world, pushing computing power and capabilities to the edge. It bridges hardware and software to creates compatible programs that work within certain industries demands” (Computer Engineering Careers). Software engineering includes the development and building of computer systems, software, and applications software. Computer Science Online also claims, “Systems software consists of programs that include computing utilities and operations systems and applications software includes user-focused programs, including database programs, Web browsers and more” (Software Engineering Careers). Then there is computer information system, Information technology is the backbone of the intricate information platform that has been developed on global levels. According to, Computer Science Online, “Databases, applications, Computer software, Websites, Mobile data, Servers, and Voice networks are each part of the larger, informational system” (Information Technology Careers). I am personally the most interested in pursuing a future in Software Engineering. Any career involving the creation or implementation of software would be a dream for me, but my goal in life is to become a senior software developer at Treyarch headquarters. Treyarch is a company under Activision that has developed extremely popular video games such as the Call of Duty Black Ops trilogy. Developing the games, I’ve grown up playing has been a dream of mine since a little kid, and I believe I could bring in valuable input having played through every call of duty myself. That’s where having a strong background in software engineering will propel me to the next level in the career path I want to take. Being that video games run off a certain software, and without it the game will either fail of succeed when made available.
