Behind my Masks

yesterday, I was so mad.
You saw the moods
change 'cross my face.
Quick to anger,
Quick to tears,
Quick to walk away.

And you see
straight through my masks
to who I am inside.
But maybe you should just hold back.
For once just let me hide.

Tomorrow I'll be happy.
I'll be cheerful.
You'll see me laugh and smile.
I'll hold you close,
whisper sweet words,
Masquerading all the while.

And you see
straight through my masks
to who I am inside.
But maybe you should just hold back.
For once just let me hide.

And today is a blank slate,
emotionless and grey.
It's the way I really am.
And just to feel
Something now
I'll pick up the masks again.

And you see
straight through my masks
to who I am inside.
But maybe you should just hold back.
For once just let me hide.
